Description

MTP 24 Jumper

MTP® jumpers support smooth transitions to greater data rates in data centers when used alongside our trunk cables. They are generally applied for patching tasks inside a cabinet. MTP® cabling provides a budget-friendly replacement for time-consuming on-site termination, designed for high-density fiber connections in data centers requiring space optimization and simplified cable organization.

MTP®-24 is perfectly suited for 20-fiber parallel multimode optical transceiver deployments, such as 100G CFP SR10 and 100G CXP SR10 link setups.

Please note: US Conec MTP® connectors fully meet MPO specifications, delivering exclusive patented features, superior accuracy, proven dependability, and notable performance advantages over typical MPO connectors.

MTP Patch Cable Polarity

The MTP® 24-fiber Type B male connector is designed for high-density parallel optical transmission in data centers and enterprise networks. Unlike Type A (straight-through), Type B polarity uses a reversed (flipped) configuration, meaning that the fiber positions are mirrored from one end to the other.
In practice, Fiber 1 on one connector maps to Fiber 24 on the opposite connector, Fiber 2 maps to Fiber 23, and so on. This crossed polarity ensures that transmit (Tx) signals from one device are correctly aligned with receive (Rx) signals on the other device, which is essential for duplex and parallel optics communication.
As a male connector, the MTP® 24-fiber Type B plug includes two guide pins that guarantee precise alignment with a female connector, delivering stable optical performance and low insertion loss.

mtp 24 jumper Polarity Example (Simplified):

Fiber 1 ↔ Fiber 24
Fiber 2 ↔ Fiber 23

Fiber 12 ↔ Fiber 13
Fiber 13 ↔ Fiber 12

Fiber 24 ↔ Fiber 1
This flipped arrangement supports parallel optics and is widely adopted in 100G/200G/400G Ethernet links.

mtp 24 jumper Key Features:

Connector type: MTP® 24-fiber male (with guide pins)
Fiber count: 24 fibers (two rows of 12 fibers each)
Polarity standard: Type B (reversed, flipped mapping)
Performance: Ultra-low insertion loss ferrule design for high-speed transmission
Compatibility: Works with MPO/MTP® cassettes, patch panels, and trunk cables following Type B polarity standards

mtp 24 jumper Applications:

High-speed data transmission: Used in 100G, 200G, and 400G parallel optics connections
Backbone cabling: Ideal for structured cabling in hyperscale and enterprise data centers

MTP 24 Jumper Application

High-speed interconnection in data centers

It is used for direct connection of 40G/100G optical modules, supports 400G high-speed transmission, and can improve wiring density and transmission efficiency. For example, 400G QSFP-DD DR4 optical modules can be directly connected through MPO/MTP-8 multimode fiber jumpers. ‌

High-density wiring scenarios

In the backbone wiring of data centers, MTP/MPO trunk fiber jumpers are used in conjunction with adapter modules to achieve interconnection and cross-connection between devices, saving 45% of wiring space. Branch jumpers are used to connect devices with different rates (such as 10G and 40/100G devices). ‌

100G/400G transmission expansion

Supports branch connection of 100G QSFP28 optical modules to 4 25G SFP28 optical modules, or interconnection of 100G CFP optical modules to another CFP. ‌

Fiber-to-Building Applications

It is used for fiber-to-the-building (FTTB) wiring to meet the needs of high-density fiber access.

MTP 24 Jumper Test Series

MTP 24 Jumper Polarity Test Process

‌End face cleaning: Use special equipment to remove end face contaminants to avoid affecting the test accuracy. ‌
Morphology detection: Analyze the end face microstructure through 3D imaging technology to detect surface roughness, scratches and other defects. ‌
Insertion loss test: Measure the contact loss between the fiber end face and the connector ferrule to evaluate the signal transmission quality. ‌
Polarity verification: Confirm the correspondence between the number of fiber cores and the connector guide hole to prevent communication failure caused by wrong connection. ‌

MTP 24 Jumper Test Key Indicators

Cleaning efficiency: It must reach more than 98% to ensure that there are no residual stains on the end face. ‌
Detection accuracy: The resolution of 3D morphology detection must be less than 1.5μ, and the insertion loss error must be controlled within 0.3dB. ‌
Test time: It takes about 10 seconds to detect a single fiber core of a 12-core MPO jumper, and the overall test takes about 2 minutes.

MTP 24 Jumper cable Test Common Problems

Pollution sensitivity: Tiny particles on the end face will cause increased loss, and non-contact cleaning methods are required to protect the end face. ‌ ‌
